We’re heading off to Irvine right now to meet up with my friend Jenny. She’s going to be our RYCE model for the time being. We are grateful that she could find time out of her busy schedule to help us out with this. If anyone signs her as a model, the RYCE Crew wants 10% for a finders fee

Afterward we’re done taking pictures, I’m going to take RYCE Rod to Guppies for shaved ice. He’s never been there and since he likes condensed milk I know he’ll love this place. Anways, I gotta get ready and head out. By the way, GI Joe was hecka tight. Both of us liked the movie and in no way agree with the critics that it’s a D+. It should be at least a B. Peace out

GI Joe and Yardhouse tonight!!

So some of us are going to go see GI Joe tonight in Temecula @ 8 PM. Then after the movies, we’ll stop by Yardhouse and get a bit to eat and hang out for late night happy hour. I’ve hear VERY mixed reviews on GI Joe but that doesn’t stop me from watching it because I believe rating how good movies are is all personal preference. Just because one person doesn’t like a movie, doesn’t mean everyone is going to agree upon it. Thus makes me come to the conclusion that I have had my whole life: “Don’t listen to movie critics”. I’ve noticed that my favorite movies have never received a rating higher than a C+. My dad always tells me, “oh, that movie got a D+ in the paper, it can’t be good”. I just tell him,”oh heck yea, I really want to see it now!” I’ve noticed that the lower the movie rating is, the better I like the movie. That’s just me, obviously you can have a different opinion and that’s fine with me. Why? Because then that’s one person I won’t have to compete with in getting a seat in the movie theater

I’ve always liked Yardhouse. I don’t remember having a bad experience there so far and Rod and I are slowing making our way down the whole beer list that they have. I think we’ve sampled maybe one-fourth of their beer collection so far. I am definitely not a beer drinker either. I started off as a wine person, and then hard liquor, and now slowly getting in the alcohols that are not as widely known. What I mean by that is I found a type of alcohol made from Japan that is SOOOOOO fresh and so clean. It’s so smooth that Rod thought I gave him water on the rocks when I told him to try some. I usually drink Grey Goose on the rocks with 1 lime and have never been able to get anyone to drink it with me. On the other hand, with this Japanese vodka, I was able to get everyone to drink it on the rocks with me without them needing a chaser. On top of that, some of these people were girls who usually want it mixed with oj or cranberry juice. That in itself proves that this drink is so smooth. When I first tasted it, I knew I hit a gold mine. Plus, it’s about $2-$5 cheaper than Grey Goose, obviously depending on where you shop at. Since I love this drink so much … I will not disclose the name of the drink. I think on a big scale. I don’t need people to slowly catch on that this drink is crazy good, then the demand goes up, and then the price goes up too. Plus it’s a good feeling to know this little secret

Anyways, we’re all getting ready for the action-packed movie. Hopefully I will like the movie and I’ll blog about my take on the movie in a few days. Remember: if you ever find the Ryce Crew at our Events, you’ll get a discount on your purchase at our store.

Busy Weekend in San Diego

This weekend the Ryce crew decided to make a trip to San Diego for business and pleasure. Tonight, Ryce Rodney and I are going to hit up Pacific Beach Bar & Grill with a few friends to hang out because we haven’t seen them since my birthday party in Santa Monica. Then on Friday we’re going to do a little BBQ at La Jolla Shores and my parents from Fresno are going to join us. Friday night the Ryce Boys are going to have a guys’ poker night. We’re probably going to order some pizza, get some drinks, and take money from our own friends because that’s how we have fun, haha. Saturday morning we will be at a friend’s place for a BBQ and pool party. Apparently this weekend is BBQ filled and we can never get enough of it. Then Saturday night our friend Olivier is turning 30 years old and he’s having a warehouse party with a few of his friends. There should be a good 100 people plus so it’ll be a great night. If you will be in the area of PB tonight or La Jolla Shores tomorrow around noon time, then let us know or try to find us. Hope to see you around

RYCE Crew Roams the OC

The Ryce Crew is going to be roaming around the Orange County area from about 1 PM – 11 PM on Thursday, July 16. We’ll be hitting up a bunch of pho restaurants and Vietnamese coffee shops just to take a day off from our busy schedules. Nothing’s better than chilling in Westminster eating a nice hot bowl of Vietnamese pho noodles in the town that makes it the best out of the whole Los Angeles area. Westminster is the center of the Los Angeles region where the pho noodles tastes like home cooking, at least in my opinion. I ate pho noodles in Korea Town, let’s just say never again. It was so bad I could have taken boiling water, a chicken and beef broth cube, and MSG and it would have tasted better than what I had in Korea Town.

This is along the same lines as why would you go to Outback Steakhouse and get pasta when they’re known for their steaks. Why would you go to McDonalds and get a salad? That’s what Souplantation, Sweet Tomatoes, or Pluto’s near UC Davis is for. And if you’ve been to Pluto’s near UC Davis, that place is bomb diggitty. You don’t see me going to Arizona and expecting to find really good Asian food. My friend that lives there said people went CRAZY when Panda Express opened there. She said the line was soooo long it was like they’ve never had Asian food before. Too bad for them Panda Express isn’t even TRUE Asian food.

So whether we get half a chicken and rice, or a bowl of pho noodles, it doesn’t get any better in Westminster. Anyone who tells me that pho noodles sucks in OC, needs to check themself and eat out more often. They have no idea what kind of stupid just came out of their mouth. Anyways, the RYCE Crew will be hanging out around OC and end up at L8 Oyster Bar & Grill after 8 PM. If you find us, come have a drink with us or something. Till then … Let’s Pho!!

Ryce Randy Crushing It In The IE

Since I’m trying to get ready and back into shape for my volleyball tournament in San Diego, my San Bernardino crew decided to get together and play volleyball at the Loma Linda University Drayson Center. There is a few of us there that are going to be playing in the SD tourney so we wanted to play sometime this week before the tourney, thus we planned for today. So after you eat your bowl of pho, rice, spam, and seaweed (masubi), or seafood dinner, you’re more than welcome to come watch us in action tonight at 8 PM. We’ll be playing volleyball straight for about an hour and a half.

Just to let you know, our volleyball court is a closed court, which means only the people we personally ask will be able to play. This ensures us that all of us will be able to play, especially when the college only gives us the court once a week. Keep in mind this is NOTHING compared to the basketball guys getting 3 courts EVERY DAY, even when they have 2 people shooting hoops on one court. So why do we always need to have 12 ppl with us before they set up volleyball nets but you can have 1 loner person shooting hoops by himself. It’s called doubles volleyball for a reason, we can play volleyball with 4 ppl. Oh well, that was my venting for the day of this whole issue that has been going on with MANY colleges. That’s why I miss UCLA so much. I played volleyball there 3 days a week and we had 2 courts everytime. Actually we technically had our own gym every Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sun. But anyways, if you live out in the IE or San Bernardino area, you are more than welcome to watch some good volleyball games for 2 hours. Hopefully I’ll see ya there.

JULY 4th, RYCE Randy’s bday !!!!

So yea, my birthday is July 4 and I have no idea what I’m going to do this year. Instead I’m going to celebrate it with one of my UCLA volleyball friends Sara. We had a joint birthday party last year on my birthday at a place called Medusa Lounge in Hollywood area. It was definitely one of my favorite birthdays somewhere in the top 3. I would have no problem doing it there again, but I would still want a different place. The atmosphere was perfect. Since it was July 4, no one was there at all. Our group of about 15 people had the whole place to ourselves, huge bar, DJ … ALL TO OURSELVES. It really gave us the feeling like we rented out the whole place. Plus, the walls all have cravings and engravings on them which makes the place very uniquely decorated.

Anyways, this year we decided to have another joint birthday party on July 10 at Wokcano in Santa Monica. This is a great sushi restaurant that has a lounge upstairs. At night they have a DJ and a small dance floor for you to do your thang. If you would like to join the Ryce crew at my birthday party, you are definitely more than welcome to. If you end up coming, lemme know that you saw this blog and I’ll have a surprise for you. Here is a copy of the evite message that Sara and I sent to all our friends. Hope to see you guys there

YAY, The Jinta and I are having another joint birthday party this year. Last year was a BLAST for me, this year will be even better, and if you’re not invited next year, well then you were probably the reason why this year wasn’t as good :p
Sara’s bday is July 7 and mine is July 4, just in case you didn’t know

Anyways, we’re gonna have dinner at Wokcano in Santa Monica. Then we’ll just chill there and have a few drinks. There is a lounge upstairs and DJ spinning on the records (or actually clicking away at MP3’s on his laptop). So you can chill and drink with us, and for all you people with ADHD there is a dance floor there at your disposal. For all you Sir-smoke-alots, there is an outdoor patio that is pretty big.

PLEASE let us know if you’ll be there for dinner or just to chill afterwards because we need to make reservations for dinner.

Help us celebrate both our birthdays and Sara’s stressful “Finals is over” party. We would love to see all of you there, that’s why u’re invited, duh :p

If you would like to join us, the RYCE crew will be at Crabulous in Rosemead at 5:30 PM. A bowl of pho is good during lunch or late night after clubbing, but nothing is better than a seafood dinner. The different kinds of spices that you can choose from is just another perk to the delicious seafood that you can order by the pound. I can’t get enough of the shrimp and dungeness crab. Rodney on the other hand can’t stay away from the crawfish. Anyways, we’re almost there. Peace outside ya’ll!! Btw, if you’re the first person to find us … I might have a surprise for you

Press Release for DMK Fundraiser Event

Hollywood, CA – DMKWORLD.COM, Rx Marketing Works, in joint effort with Onenightlife.com, will host an exclusive event “DMK Birthday Celebration & Rehabilitation Fundraiser” for Doug Kanegawa. To be held on Friday, June 19^th at the renowned Highlands Nightclub in Hollywood. As one of the pioneers of the nightlife industry, Doug has been promoting for over 20 years. He unfortunately suffered multiple strokes in January of last year and was hospitalized for over half a year.

In haste, promoting and nightlife companies from across Los Angeles came together for a Red Carpet event of fashion, music, art, and dance called “United for a Cause” on February 2008 at Club Vanguard. Music performances included Perry Farrell & Satellite Party, Visionaries, and Frequency 5. Dance acts featured Mavyn Entertainment, Breed, and Carey Ysais “Ladies in Lace” with special guest speakers from The Black Eyed Peas and Carmit, formerly from The Pussycat Dolls.

Doug had a multi-talented career in illustration, fashion and graphic design, coordination and marketing, along with the creation of Dmkworld.com, which promoted for many venues and special events such as The Carnival “Choreographer’s Ball”.

Doug gained notoriety though many TV networks, and media outlets from the likes of MTV News, Good Day LA, Channel 9, Fox 11, Wire Image, LA Weekly, LA Times, LA Nitelife Show, and Independent Video Show. Publication articles reached as far as Tokyo, Japan, and in magazines such as Beat Freak, Cool Trans, Fine, Boom, LA Auto Guide, Yolk and Transpacific Magazines, just to name a few.

Although he is still recovering, now through rehabilitation, he will be attending his birthday celebration and fundraiser. It will be a rare and memorable opportunity for all, especially for Doug, to meet with all his family, friends, and supporters during this tough time.

DMK Bday Celebration & Fundraiser

For all you clubbers and nonclubbers alike, here is the short version of the story if you don’t know it already. I used to promote clubs in Hollywood for DMK Promotions. The founder of DMK, Doug, had multiple strokes, heartattack, and seizure, and coma. This all happened about a year and a half ago and he’s going through rehabilitation right now. Last year we threw a fundraiser event at Club Vanguard in Hollywood and had multiple celebrities including: Frequency 5, Visionaries, Taboo of The Black Eyed Peas, Adolph Kruger of Pimp My Ride, Beny Mena, Carmit of the Pussycat Dolls, Jesse Jam, Perry Farrell, and Sasha Singleton.
Anyways, since we used to promote at The Highlands for about 2.5+ years by ourselves every Friday night, it’s like our home club. Thus, we’re throwing another fundraiser/Doug’s Bday party. DUB magazine is suppose to bring celebrities and have a celebrity performance. Modern Home Living and Monster Energy Drink also jumped on board to help promote this special event. RYCE is one of the sponsors than helped this event be a success along with the many other sponsors at the bottom of the flyer. The RYCE crew will definitely be there to support Doug for his birthday celebration.
If you only go clubbing once a year, I ask that it’s this event.

Perks: DMK Guestlist is till midnight.
Guestlist ppl are free, girls AND GUYS
For every DMK guestlist person that shows up, The Highlands Club is going to donate $5 to Doug’s Rehabilitation Fund.

Which means, if you’re going to go clubbing somewhere else, just show up at The Highlands and then leave. Just by showing up before midnight the club is donating $5, and everyone is free. You’re NEVER going to find ANY club that has free admission for GUYS till 12AM. I can guarantee it.
